adding dawnguard and hearthfires to the creation kit

with release of the ‘dragonborn’ expansion coming soon, i decided to get back into the creation kit and wanted to add dawnguard and hearthfire. so in order to do this i had to edit the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\SkyrimEditor.ini and add change the section under [Archive]. now it looks like this -

and i can load all the form id’s from both expansions into the creation kit.

change the rdp listening port in windows

open the registry editor (start -> run -> regedit
open the following sub-key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
change it to decimal and type the new port number
quit the registry editor and reboot

don’t forget to make the changes in your router and the firewall.

hello new smartphone, goodbye unlocking it….

well, this is interesting.

i wonder if our government can explain what mr. reed meant BY “only a consumer, who is also the owner of the copy of software on the handset under the law, may unlock the handset.”

does the gnu gpl apply here? or is the ‘custom’ roms that are installed still owned by the device manufacturer? is the version of android one modifies to install on their device owned by them? or the manufacturer? or the telco?

from looking at exemption to prohibition on circumvention of copyright protection systems for access control technologies, it appears that it may affect only phones under contract, but who knows what the telco’s will try and pull.

the bottom line is that little by little our freedom is being stripped away. yet we as a people do nothing. our government sneaks in these bullshit laws to control every facet of our lives and we are supposed to smile and nod.

add nextgen a gallery slideshow to the sidebar – not in a widget

i needed to add a nextgen gallery into a sidebar for a site i’m working on. not satisfied with the limited ability of the widget setup and after much searching – i found this -

chicken-bacon corn chowder

this is a recipe i kinda threw together and have modified over the years. i’m quite certain there are probably 100′s of other ones out there just like this.

amount	ingredient
1 tsp	oregano
1 tsp	parsley
1 tsp	thyme
1	sweet onion (medium to large)
2	small garlic cloves
2 cans	whole kernel sweet corn
32oz	heavy cream
1-2 cups	whole milk
2 lbs	chicken breast
1 lb	thick cut bacon
4-6	medium potatoes

chop the potato up into small cubes and boil them. i cook them until they are soft enough to stick a fork into without much pressure.

chop up the onion and garlic into small pieces and pan fry with butter.

cube the chicken and pan fry, add the oregano and parsley. cook the bacon. add the bacon to the chicken (this helps lessen the bacon flavor so it doesn’t overpower the whole chowder). add the onion and garlic and continue cooking the mixture. i usually cook the chicken, set it aside, cook the bacon, set that aside and then cook everything in a large electric.

once the potatoes are cooked, strain and rinse. pour the heavy cream into the pot and add the potato, corn, chicken, bacon, onion and garlic. add the thyme as well.

do not boil – i cook the entire thing in one big pot on low and let it simmer for 2+ hours.

# then add the following
autologin-user= autologin-user-timeout=0

then reboot and see if it works!

quum manor v2

i did a full remodel on quum manor. i had initially started with the design leaning heavily towards the whiterun style of buildings. i ended up deleting all of that and going with something i liked. it is still currently a work in progress, however, i will have it in the steam workshop soon. below is a list of the current features.
